Viy in the Animated Universe
Viy is the main antagonist of the film Viy 1967, and the creature in Slavic legends is a character from the underworld whose gaze kills. His eyes are usually covered with huge eyelids and eyelashes, which he cannot lift without help. Outwardly, he looks like a hunchbacked old man whose eyelids cover his eyes. In Gogol's work, Viy is squat, club-footed; with sinewy arms and legs like strong roots; covered in black earth; with iron fingers and face; long eyelids lowered to the ground. Viy is capable of killing with a glance and inducing the evil eye. But Gogol has other abilities - he does not kill with a glance, but rather removes the effect of all amulets from evil spirits when looking at him.
