Thor Odinson, commonly known as the Mighty Thor, is the Norse god of thunder and a character in Marvel Comics, first appearing in Journey Into Mystery #83; he has appeared in a wide variety of TV series and films, including the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, first appearing in the 2011 Thor film. The son of Odin, king of the realm of Asgard, Thor was groomed by his father to inherit the throne; however, after launching an unsanctioned attack on Jotunheim, realm of the Frost Giants, Thor was stripped of his godly powers by Odin and banished to Earth (which the Asgardians called Midgard), to teach him humility. After his brother Loki tried to usurp the throne and destroy Jotunheim, Thor reclaimed his powers and defeated him, having learned his lesson. Thor went on to become one of the founding members of the Avengers, Earth's leading superhero team, to battle threats no single hero can deal with alone.
Thor has appeared in Disney vs. Marvel Villains and will appear in Disney vs. Comics as one of the leading heroes, once again fighting to prevent his brother from threatening Midgard.
