===His First Alliance===
The Sheriff initially casts his lot with [[Lord Cutler Beckett]] and [[Cardinal Richelieu]], thinking he can hold a dominant stake in this war with these allies. At the same time, the Sheriff begins taking favors from [[The Evil Genius|Evil Genius]], who convinces him to join his alliance. Compounding this interest is the Sheriff's aide, [[Mortianna]].

===Exposed===
Richelieu and his chief spy, [[Rochefort]], visit the Sheriff as a surprise, having become suspicious of his behaviors. The Sheriff only confirms their worries, attacking them crudely with a broadsword. Rochefort, a calm fencer, brandishes his rapier in response. The two clash, but Rochefort's nimbler blade soon takes the edge. The spy even manages to chop half of the Sheriff's hair off. Yet the Sheriff retreats, promising to cut Rochefort's heart out with a spoon as he goes. He then pledges his allegiance to [[Bavmorda]], Evil Genius's chief ally.
