Satan is a minor supporting character from Sam and Max video game series, based on the fallen angel from the Christian religion. Defying his usual portrayals however, Satan is instead the office manager of Hell LLC. Aware that he's long past his prime, he instead responds to the "Management" of Hell. Origins

Thousands of years ago, before Earthrealm was created. Satan was known as Lucifer, and he was a member of Goddess Clan. Lucifer grew tired of serving the Elder Gods, and instead led a short rebellion against them. The rebellion failed and he was outcast from the Goddess Clan, having all the angelic features taken away from him. He ended up becoming the leader of newly-created dimension known as Netherrealm. Lucifer hoped that one day, he would finally overthrow the Elder Gods and destroy Goddess Clan. This plan never happened as he would be challenged by fallen Elder God Shinnok, who defeated him and took over as the new leader of Netherrealm. Instead, Satan was banished to purgatory, the realm between dimensions. There, he became the assistant to Ahti, the janitor of purgatory. The two became friends and worked together for thousands of years cleaning purgatory and taking care of other dimensional affairs other beings were too busy to take care of. During the years he also mellowed out a lot, no longer wanting to overthrow Elder Gods, and instead preferred the quiet and formulaic life as janitor's assistant.
