Roy Mustang, also known as the Flame Alchemist, is one of the major supporting protagonists of the manga Fullmetal Alchemist; consequently, he also appears as a supporting protagonist of the original and Brotherhood anime series. An Amestrian state officer and alchemist and commander of his unit, Roy yearns to become the new ruler of Amestris, aiming to change his country for the better. A cocky womanizer, he is infamous among many of his colleagues and subordinates alike for the selfish and narcissistic aura he gives off. Arrogant as ever, Roy is one to act in an ostentatious manner and appears to act mostly out of self-interest. Still, he appears as an excellent tactician capable to deduce the actions of his rivals with ease. A hero of the Ishval Civil War and Edward Elric’s superior officer, Roy has crossed paths with the young alchemist at several occasions, even lenting aid in his fight against his adversaries on purpose to thwart a conspiracy that threatened the nation. He appears in the second Heroes vs. Villains as one of the main heroes who combat the threat posed by the villain forces.
