Rico is minor protagonist in the movie, "Home on the Range", turning later into the secondary antagonist of the film. While he is considered as a townhero, after arresting many horsethiefs and bringing justice to the West City, Chugwater, he is in fact a secret dealer with the biggest criminal, talented horsethief and the main antagonist of the film, Alameda Slim. The same role shares in Disney Heroes vs. Villains War and in Heroes vs. Villains War, remaining at the side of Slim.
A Western Fight
Sent in a local town, by Slim, Rico runs upon the sheriffs of the town, Panchito Pistoles, Jose Carioca and Pecos Bill. While remaing on his horse, Jose and Panchito pull of a rope, triggering a mechanism, that scares Rico's horse, knocking him on the ground. When Rico recovered, he was ready to shoot the only remain sheriff, Pecos Bill. However, Pecos Bill shoot him quickly, knocking him down, though he recovers the hit, Rico retreats back to the hunters' base.
Capturing a Wild Stallion
Rico is seen when Slim and the Willie Brothers attempt to capture unsuccessfull the wild horse, Spirit. When Spirit makes his way out from the thieves, Slim orders Rico to capture the horse. Rico throws a rope, that captures Spirit. Along with some other hunters, Spirit is tied up and rset off to his new home, the Patch of Heavens, where he would be the new attraction animal.
A Rooster Problem
Later, Slim, his partner, Dr. Greed, and their minions set off to Patch Heavens, by orders of Ratcliffe to meet two business associates of him. However, they have to pass through a parade of animals, known as the Fearless Four and Chanticleer, perfoming in the streets. To paas on their way, Slim and Greed order their minions to attack the animals. Rico encounters one of the Fearless Four members, Tortellini the Rooster. Tortellini charges at full speed at Rico, knocking him off. Rico is later recovered and taken to the meeting of Patch of Heavens.
