Master Eraqus is an anti-hero in the video game installment, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. A formidable warrior and Keyblade Master, Eraqus serves as the sophisticated mentor to several keyblade wielders. Although in the video game series, he is portrayed as the opposed rival, to the fellow Keyblade Master, Xehanort, in the plotline of Disney vs. Non-Disney Villains War, he is featured as the connected brother of the antagonist of the series.
Disney Vs Non-Disney Villains War - Part Three
Prior to the events of the war, Eraqus and Xehanort adopt the lone cub, who would be an extreme fighter in the later events, Tai Lung. When he examines the corrupt darkness of the tiger, Eraqus, fearing of usurpation, threatens Tai Lung, with philospophical words. An enraged Tai Lung then leaps at Eraqus, taking him by surprise. However, Eraqus uses his keyblade against him, forcing the tiger into exile. Eraqus meets his same fate, as his brother, Xehanort, casts him into exile, due to the deep connection he had with Tai Lung.
Back in the Game
During the events of the third war, Syndrome, an underling of the current king of the Multi-Nation, Pitch Black, approaches the former master and proposes him an offer of participating in the war. When Eraqus questions Syndrome about his loyalties with the nightmare lord, Syndrome responds that the Multi-Nation falls apart, since the civil antagonism of the council members of the faction. He continues to explain, that they must strike a blow at the Cyclonian forces, led by Master Cyclonis, for the purpose to extinguish the air forces of Pitch Black. Reluctantly, Eraqus agrees to his offer, since he deems himself as the hero of the world, along with the self-proclaimed hero, Syndrome.
Eraqus then sets off to Cyclonis' lair, to end the rule of Cyclonis. He insults her, as he explains the darkness, that deeply corrupts her. Eraqus then summons an energy wave, only to be deflected back by Cyclonis' magic shard. When Cyclonis arms herself with a staff, Eraqus attempts to summon a light beam. Yet, his attacks prove his downfall, as Cyclonis shoot from her shard, a powerfull energy beam, to the master's chest, stunning him. Eraqus falls before Cyclonis, dropping his keyblade weapon, in the process. Whether he survives the battle or not, remains currently unknown.
