As the daughter of Count Nefaria, the leader of the Maggia, Madame Mask is sent to offer an alliance with Gaston. Gaston, however, rejects her offer, and instead mocks Mask's metal plated mask covering her disfigured face, greatly offending her. Madame Mask pays a visit to Doctor Facilier, who gives Mask a crown that not only allows her to remove her mask by healing her wounds and restoring her good looks, but also giving her magic power. Vs Facilier
Mask, however, neglects to pay Facilier his fee. When Facilier comes to collect her debt, Mask proclaims herself a god and tries to strike the witch doctor down. Facilier recovers quickly and blows some magic powder in Mask's face, draining away her beauty and harvesting her soul. Mask's body crumples to the ground, lifeless.
