John Reid, better known as the Lone Ranger, is a Western hero who first appeared in the radio show of the same name that debuted in 1933; it was adapted into a live-action Disney film in 2013. An idealistic lawyer, Reid found himself in unfamiliar territory when visiting his Texas Ranger brother Dan in the frontier town of Colby, Texas. When the psychotic, cannibalistic outlaw Butch Cavendish escaped from the train John was riding on, John was deputized by his brother and joined a posse to recapture Cavendish; however, Cavendish's men ambushed and slaughtered the entire posse. Revived by the Comanche tribesman Tonto as a "spirit walker," John set out in pursuit of the men who killed his brother. Uncovering a conspiracy to seize control of the powerful Transcontinental Railroad company and a profitable silver mine, John made a name for himself as the vigilante known as the Lone Ranger. The Lone Ranger appears in the second season of Disney Heroes vs. Villains, bringing frontier-style justice to the forces of evil.
