King Sombra is a villain from the children's television series, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Little is known about Sombra aside from his overwhelming evil and his former rule of the Crystal Empire. In IDW's comic series, he is a member of a race of shadowy beings known as the Umbrum and would later be reformed by The Mane Six, with the help of his childhood friend Radiant Hope. He is a minor player in the second Disney Vs Non Disney Villains War.

Discord brings King Sombra into Eris's faction. Sombra pairs with Queen Chrysalis to help defeat some of Echidna's children. During the battle, Sombra uses his magic horn to defeat the Chimera and Ladon. However, when the monstrous new form of Gaston enters the field, Sombra finds himself outclassed. Though he phases through a few of the Gaston-creature's fireballs, he eventually is disintegrated.

Starting to build up his forces, No Heart approaches the sorcerer Daolon Wong, offering him the chance to share in his new power. Wong initially refuses, not wanting to become a mere servant. However, King Sombra then arrives to assassinate Wong on Phobos’s orders, prompting No Heart to show them both that he is now the dominant force in the magical world, and that loyalty to him is the only way to survive.
