Janja is one of the primary antagonists, turned anti-heroes, in the television series The Lion Guard. A young hyena and the leader of his own clan, Janja is ruthless tactician and fighter as his previous predecessors. Of note, Janja is the descedant of the hyenas Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed. The main arch-enemy of Kion, the son of Simba, Janja will stop at nothing to get his grip over the young lion prince. He appears in the second Disney Heroes vs. Villains as among the predators in league with Zira.

While Grimbyte was about to face Kaa,Janja arrived to eat one of the animals due to him being very hungry.After looking at both Kaa and Grimbyte,Janja has decided to eat Grimbyte.As Grimbyte was attending to flee away,he was cornered by Janja's clan.Grimbyte could watch in horror as Janja jumped to devour him.After the bird was devoured,Kaa tells Janja that he will be rewarded due to not eating him.

Yosemite Sam arrived on Pride Lands to hunt the infamous Scar. However, the lion is informed about the hunter's arrival, so he sent Janja alongside Tublat to kill the hunter. When Yosemite Sam arrives on Pride Lands, Janja and his forces cornered the hunter declaring him that he will be eaten today as he ordered Tublat to just crush Yosemite Sam.When Yosemite Sam was about to kill the gorilla,Janja's clan managed to devour the hunter while Janja and Tublat were laughing at their victory.
