The Nightmares are evil incarnates of dreams and the minions of the Nightmare King Pitch Black. Taken the form of a black-sand horse with sparkle yellow eyes, the Nightmares appear as emissaries of Pitch Black in the Dreamworks animated movie, The Rise of the Guardians, although they turn against him by the end of the film.
