Donkey Kong was the main antagonist of the video game Donkey Kong, where he faced off against Mario in his first appearance. Donkey Kong later goes on to become the hero of his game franchise Donkey Kong Country, where it turns out that the original Donkey Kong was Cranky Kong. Donkey Kong likes guarding his banana horde and family against the evil King K. Rool and his Kremlings. Donkey Kong also teams up with Mario in different spin-off games.
