CLU 2.0 in the Live-Action universe
CLU 2.0 is the main antagonist of Tron: Legacy and the secondary antagonist of Tron: Evolution and Tron: Uprising. Based on the early prototype of the original program, CLU, whom Flynn had designed, CLU 2.0 appears as the digital and corrupt copy of Kevin Flynn, as well as being a great artificial intelligence, able to dominate the network system, the Grid, become it's new tyrant, and have a large division of digital soldiers under his command. He is a major player in the villains tournaments.

CLU first appears in the war when Maleficent's mysterious hooded ally uploads a copy of his programming into Castle Oblivion's database. CLU quickly spreads through the system, amassing a large army of programs and recruiting a virus known as Abraxas to aid him in his conquest.
Eventually, CLU figures out how to escape the computer world altogether, and bring his armies into the physical one. Wanting to test the waters of this new world, CLU sends out Abraxas to attack the Cyclonian Empire. Despite meeting resistance from the Dark Ace, Abraxas succeeds in his mission. Seeing that the time is right to make his move, CLU has his armies form a blockade around Cyclonia, preventing any Cyclonian forces from getting in or out.

Origins
Even before the Great War was fought, mankind enjoyed a relatively golden age. At certain spots, technology flourished and grew, while at other spots, it was shunned and seen as unholy. Even so, one of the masters of technology, Kevin Flynn, managed to do something beyond the minds of his other men. As he was the proud owner of a arcade hall and managed that pretty well, he sought in secret to create the perfect world. A world without war, without hunger or thirst, and a world without any kind of violence. >
Flynn designed his world to the max. Instead of fights to settle conflicts, he organized games in which the programs dealt with their problems against another. These games were relatively harmless and were enjoyed by other programs to watch. To see to it that the system never lost its shine, Flynn designed two programs to keep watch over it. Tron would be the one to see no violence would ever escalate and Clu was designed to see to it that all rules would be lived up to a giant expected level. Flynn and Clu promised each other that the system would indeed be a perfect world.
Flynn's dreams were utterly destroyed when the Great War broke out and he lost control over the system forever. Now without their creator, the programs that were designed to hold peace and order kept up their level to the max. Clu and Tron worked tirelessly together to see all programs Flynn had designed would never fall out, and thus the darkness inside the system was kept to low levels.
Even as the world was split and torn asunder in the final act of the war, the system somewhow managed to stay intact as one giant world. Clu, however, did find out that now the once created portals that allowed programs to get in from all over the world suddenly were connected to different realms. As such, he saw imperfect programs from different realms instead of programs from just one world. Though Tron reminded Clu that there was no actual big change, Clu thought otherwise.
Frightened and terrified, Clu fell out with Tron, which saw the first conflict with violence in the system. Some say that on that day, Tron died and Rinzler was born from his ashes; a warrior designed with only one purpose: the destruction of all imperfect programs. The slaughter that then ensued was beyond counting. Clu fortified his position of a tyrant and dragged the system into a spiral of never-ending violence. New and imperfect programs that were created by the different realms were either derezzed or reformatted into soldiers. Clu saw to it that nothing escaped his attention.
As part of these changes, Clu included one last big change. Those imperfect programs that he saw as threats, he had captured and fight for their lives in lightcycle battles. These fights always ended with only one standing, and when Clu himself participated, it always meant he was the last one standing.
He never encountered any kind of problem anymore... untill a master control program interfered with his life long work.

CLU finds his domination in the Grid challenged by the arrival of the Master Control Program and Sark. CLU refuses to bow to the MCP's authority, having grown used to ruling cyberspace on his own. To punish him, the MCP has Sark imprison CLU on the Game Grid, where he would be forced to compete for his life in a game of light-cycles. The experienced CLU begins taking down the other racers, concerning Sark that he might actually win. Sark resorts to cheating, reprogramming the Grid to force CLU to crash, knocking him from his vehicle. Defiant to the last, CLU taunts Sark as he is de-rezzed, removing his threat.

Fortunately, a backup copy of CLU's programming survives and escapes into another dimension, allowing CLU to respawn in the CGI realm. Seeking to rebuild his forces, CLU approaches the ruler of Sugar Rush, King Candy, to propose an alliance, which the king accepts. With a foothold established in this new realm, CLU sends out his right-hand, General Tesler, to expand his territory. Tesler is mostly successful in this task, although he is hindered when he loses a battle with another newcomer, Frollo.
As CLU tightens his influence over Sugar Rush, King Candy confronts him over the harsh rules he has imposed on his subjects. However, the meeting is interrupted by the arrival of the virus Abraxas, who has come to take revenge of CLU and assassinate both rulers. As Abraxas begins effortlessly killing the guards, CLU summons his newest creation: a Data Heartless. The newly created Darkside engages Abraxas, but is ultimately destroyed. CLU himself then steps in, throwing a disk at the virus, only for Abraxas to block it with one of his own. Seeing that he is outnumbered, Abraxas retreats, leaving behind the remnants of his own destroyed disk, much to CLU's interest.
As the war continues to rage, CLU seeks to consolidate Sugar Rush, and presses a rule to stop all unnecessary activities, namely racing. However, he soon hears that King Candy has defied this rule, racing against the arrogant Chick Hicks. CLU and Tesler arrive on the scene just in time to witness Hicks emerge victorious in the race, utterly enraging Candy. CLU watches in amusement as Candy snaps and beats Hicks to death.
Following the race, CLU receives an invitation to a meeting being held by Count Dooku, to discuss what might be the biggest happening in the universe. CLU attends the meeting, with another world leader, Hades, also being in attendance. Dooku welcomes them both to the meeting, thanking them for taking the matter at hand seriously, upon which CLU questions whether or not the matter is important enough to warrant his attention. Dooku assures him that it is, but before the meeting can progress, it is interrupted by the arrival of Riku, who challenges the count. Dooku attempts to postpone the meeting to a later time, only for CLU to declare that there will be no later time, as both he and Hades depart from the meeting.
