Brutus is a character first appearing in the Popeye the Sailor TV series from 1960, an enemy of Popeye. Created to fulfil Bluto's role during a time when it was erroneusly believed that the latter was not introduced first in the original Thimble Theatre, Brutus is essentially a new character meant to resemble the earlier Bluto in both appearance and actions. In the comic strip he was Bluto's twin brother. He first appeared in Animated vs CGI Villains as being one of Buzz Buzzard's Alliance.
